About this Opportunity

Are you someone who believes in empowering youth to impact their communities both in Canada and abroad? The organizing committee for TEDxYouth Toronto is looking for a Web Developer to work in collaboration with Project Teams to continue to improve our website (www.tedxyouthtoronto.ca) and explore new methods of increasing the event’s web presence.  You will be a key driver of TEDxYouth@Toronto by maximizing the use of IT tools to improve our productivity.  You will also have creative freedom in defining the online presence for TEDxYouth@Toronto.

 Overall Responsibilities

  • Identify, prioritize and implement website enhancements
  • Work closely with designers to translate design elements and themes into website implementation
  • Support other teams (e.g., outreach team) with website need when required (e.g., setting up of application forms)
  • Work closely with social media community manager to ensure consistent content on both platforms
  • Advise on IT tool selection for other teams (e.g., project management, analytic software) and perform any integration of tools with the website if applicable (e.g., Mailchimp integration on sign-up forms)
  • Investigate new methods of increase overall web presence
  • Maintain website and email support

We are looking for someone who has the following experience/skills:

  • Eager to implement new web-based ideas
  • Experienced in reponsive web design, HTML5, CSS, PHP, JQuery, Javascript, WordPress theme development and maintenance, database management
  • Experience with Photoshop / GIMP, Illustrator / Inkscape, and graphic design skills are preferable
  • Has preferably worked within a non-profit organization/setting in the past
  • Very passionate about community development and youth leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal and organization skills
