About this Opportunity
Are you someone who believes in empowering youth to impact their communities both in Canada and abroad? The organizing committee for TEDxYouth Toronto is looking for Speaker Coordinators to work in collaboration with Project Teams to help sign speakers for our annual event taking place on Universal Children’s Day. You will have the creative freedom to reach out to potential speakers, work with them in the development of their TEDx talk and implement any new ideas that can help our team achieve our goals.
Overall Responsibilities
- Research and contact potential speakers in accordance with the 2013 event theme
- Build and maintain relationship with speakers and agencies, including lead-up to and post-event follow-up
- Support speakers in the development of their talk – including topic selection, fleshing out content, event day preparation, etc.
- Work with designers to organize and update existing speaker outreach material, as well as provide ideas and content for new creative approaches to speaker outreach
- Coordinate delivery of speaker packages or other information to prospective and confirmed speakers
- Work with social media and web to communicate/update with regards to speakers
- Liaise with A/V team to coordinate and develop ideas for the creation of speaker introduction video.
We are looking for someone who has the following experience/skills:
- Has worked within a non-profit organization/setting in the past (in this role or another)
- Very passionate about community development and youth leadership
- A full-time professional with a completed education or a graduate student
- Excellent interpersonal and organization skills
- Comfortable with networking and cold calling
- Event planning experience and ability to think out of the box a must
