TEDxYouth@Toronto

Revolution

Team Application

Are you someone who believes in empowering youth to impact their communities both in Canada and abroad?

The TEDxYouth@Toronto organizing team is recruiting passionate and motivated young professionals/graduate students for a variety of positions to help plan our annual event taking place on November 16th 2013, in accordance with Universal Children’s Day. You will have the opportunity to be part of a talented team working to inspire youth, exposure to exciting speakers and sponsors, as well as the experience of playing a pivotal part of a unique global event.

About TEDxYouth@Toronto

TEDxYouth@Toronto is in its fourth year, and has influenced hundreds of youth around the city and featured some of the most innovative minds in Canada as speakers at past events. It is the largest free TEDxYouth event in Canada and aims to inspire youth by creating an experience that drives home the power of ideas, innovation and the notion that youth are powerful catalysts for change in their communities.

The 2013 event will take place in November, at the Ontario Science Centre. The format will be based upon the traditional TED Talks format with a line-up of exciting and diverse speakers and performers. The event will be followed by a  networking reception for attendees and speakers. Also, the event will feature popular TED videos and interactive activities hosted by the Ontario Science Centre. There will be time before, during and after the event for participants, organizers and presenters to interact and share experiences – a vital component of the experience. The live audience will be made up of high school students from all over the city. It will be also be streamed for audiences locally and globally.

How do we operate?

TEDxYouth@Toronto Team 2012

TEDxYouth@Toronto began in 2010 with a group of friends who thought “Wouldn’t it be cool to have a TEDx conference just for Toronto youth?” Four years later, TEDxYouth@Toronto continues to be organized by a dedicated team of volunteers with a “get things done” attitude who are passionate about youth empowerment.

As with every volunteer-driven organization, we strive go beyond our assigned roles and duties to support each other (we understand that work and personal life has its peaks and troughs). On the day of the event, everyone chips in to ensure that the day proceeds smoothly and that 200 happy faces return home that evening. We meet bi-weekly with our project teams (e.g. outreach team), and monthly with the general team to catch-up and plan our next moves. We believe in delivering on the commitments we make, and work hard to ensure that we provide a one-of-a-kind experience to GTA youth.

While we understand that personal life and work often takes precedence, we ask that each interested applicant carefully considers the time and energy they are able to commit prior to applying. We are looking for applicants that are passionate, driven, take initiative and are ready to help us take this event to new heights!
