Biography

Greg Overholt is the founder and executive director of the national student-led social venture Students Offering Support (SOS, www.StudentsOfferingSupport.ca). SOS is a student organization based in 30 universities across North America where volunteer leaders hold group review session before exams, raising money for development projects in rural Latin America, built by volunteers on two week outreach trips.

Greg, a business and computer science graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University, began SOS when he was 19 years-old in 2004. Since graduating in 2008, he has grown the organization into an award winning international social venture. Since inception, 3000 SOS volunteers have helped 25,000 students prepare for exams, raising $1,400,000 for education based development projects.

Greg has spoken to thousands of students and business leaders about social entrepreneurship and the real impact that today’s youth can have. He has been recognized as one of Waterloo’s Top 40 Under 40, the 2011 winner of the Social Entrepreneurship Award in Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year program and a recipient of the 2012 PROFIT Magazine Young Entrepreneur award.
